Message: I applied the Rustoleum 2 step product in 2005 and redid it again in 2009 because of areas that had flaked off. I am about to redo again because of the areas flaking off and was wondering if there is a primer that I should use in the areas that flaked off before I apply the Rustoleum product that might help these areas from flaking? Also, do you recommend putting on a sealer over the Rustoleum product? This being used in Wisconsin and the areas that flake off are exposed to standing water/snow/salt mixture.

Reply: We are Epoxy-Coat and not Rustoleum. I would recommend not applying another water based epoxy, but rather grinding the floor down and applying our 100% solids Cycloaliphatic epoxy. Message: I applied Rustoleum epoxy coating to my garage and just after two weeks found a peel. Can I patch it with your touch-up coat or I have to re-do the whole thing?

Message: I have done my last two garage floors with kits form Home Depot and Lowes. The HD/DuPont Kit lifted and eventually peeled. The other from Lowes just peels.

Can I be assured that your kit will not peel or lift? What kind of prep would I need to do prior to applying your kit? MY current floor is peeling... I also have some minor concrete damage, (breaking up) at foot of concrete pad.

I have 660 SF to cover? What would my cost be?

Message: Hello,

I recently redid my garage floor. The floor had been painted in the past so we diamond scuffed the floor bare and acid etched. The painter used rustoleum grey and clear coated it. The floor has been completed 24 hours now and they have thin streak areas where the concrete is now showing through when you get near the streaks it sort of looks like dirt but, it is the original concrete color showing through. My question is since we made the mistake of using the water based epoxy, would we be able to use your paint to paint over the newly painted floor and be successful without having the floor pull up? Message: Dear Sir:

I wrongfully recommended to a very close friend of mine to have another friend do her garage floor with gray Behr Garage Floor covering. He followed all their directions with the primer and paint to the letter. Now it is peeling up at the hot tire marks. This is the second time for the whole floor. He then stripped the floor and did it a second time and still it fails at hot tire marks. Can your product be placed over this Behr product after a light sanding or does the whole floor have to be taken down to the cement with the diamond sander. The Behr primer and product was put on a new garage floor (which was well cured) about 5 to 6 months ago. With the exception of the hot tire marks it looks OK but I know where ever the car goes on the floor it is going to be the same problem. Hot tire marks!!!!!

The garage floor is 18' x 20' approximately. If your people prepare the surface and completed the job could you give me a Ball Park estimate on cost including labor and material? We can then get down to the details during the actual order and who could do it locally. My friend will want a color chart so could you send me one? You guys are my last hope. Please bail me out of the Dog House. Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Message: I am writing you after researching many options to fix our garage floor. Last year we had a painter apply the epoxy from Sherwin-Williams (his recommendation) and to say it has been a nightmare is an understatement. The floor is now peeling and neither the painter nor Sherwin Williams will do anything to help us fix it. I am hoping your product is our answer - however I need to know what would be necessary for the application given that the floor (which was brand new at the time) has had the Sherwin-Williams applied to it. Any thoughts, suggestions or solutions would be so appreciated - we have a graduation in two weeks and the current floor is a total wreck. Thank you.

Message: I was just wondering about flaking problems. I have used Rustoleum and Behr products on a few floors and THEY SUCK! They have flaked like crazy and are horrible products! I have followed all directions for preparation but they still flaked. Have you seen a lot of flaking with your product? If so are there ways to repair them? Also, when applying the chips, is it recommended to use epoxy shoes?

Reply: Epoxy-Coat has a stronger etching agent and will therefore etch more effective. This is essential to having a proper bond. Our product applies 5x thicker in one coat and has double the strength of these products. With that considered we have very few problems with our product failing. As long as you read and follow the application instructions you will have success. If there were to be a problem with peeling it is easy to touch up our floor. We wouldn't offer a lifetime warranty if this product didn't last. This is the same or better quality product than professionals use in heavy industrial environments lasting for over 10 years.

Message: I PAINTED MY GARAGE FLOOR WITH A WATER BASED CONCRETE PAINT. DO I NEED TO REMOVE THIS BEFORE I USE YOUR PRODUCT?

Message: I have a fairly large garage that I applied the one part Quickrete product on. It is very thin and peeling already. It shows tire marks and scrapes off. I am not happy and got my money back from them. I etched the floor with muriatic acid and rinsed it but evidently did not clean it well enough. At any rate, I am thinking about redoing it, possibly with your product. Will I have to completely remove my existing paint? Reading through your website you talk about diamond grinding, but I can't find information about it. I have a lot of areas that appear to be fine yet, and I'd rather not spend the time to remove it all if I don't have to. I could send you pictures if it would help.

Also, you should know this is in Montana, so I have a lot of mud drip off. How would your product stand up to routine scraping, shoveling, and pressure washing?

Message: I put this Rustoleum 2 part on my garage floor and in less than one year is was wearing AND flaking off. I called them and they sent free another batch to coat the floor. I purchased items to sand and wire brush off any of the loose stuff and re-coated. Low and behold in less that another year the floor was doing the same thing. I put on the garage floor and industrial coating around 1982-4 and that wore off some and it was 3 years ago I put the Rustoleum. NOW my question is IF I purchase your product will it work over what is left of the Rustoleum stuff and the old coating? If not what do I have to do? My garage is a 24x24 (576 sf) outside dimensions and will or if I do this at this cost of your product will it stay on? Thanks!

Message: Gentlemen, I am interested in your product for a residential garage floor. I have used H&C acrylic floor paint and am unhappy with the results. The product has been down several years and has good adhesion with no flaking but hot tire marks are a constant problem. I have redone the floor once with the same result. What would I have to do to the floor to use your product successfully? The garage is 23 x 23 or 530 sq. ft.

The paint is already coming up in some spots. My husband and I painted it ourselves and followed the directions very carefully. What is wrong?? Can you help? Message: Just trying to redo a old coated floor that has been down for 20 years it was done in sears epoxy floor paint and is showing its age we rolled it out and now it is coming up and wearing through and now they don?t make it anymore and I need to redo the 2 car garage floor but am not sure if it will have good adhesion over the sears epoxy paint here in Austin I am in need of roughing up the floor to pull bad sears paint up that is peeling or lifting and wearing through in areas is there some one in Austin that has the prep equipment for this job I am pretty handy doing this work just need some direction to get this looking right again 22' x 22' just power washed floor and scrubbed it need to acid etch it again as it has worn through can I rent a floor prep machine and do this my self? I did the last job and it has lasted a long time just didn?t want to use the home depot kit as I know it?s not very tough.

Message: I have Rust-Oleum floor coating in my garage and it has come loose and is cracking on the edge (lip) area next to the interior wall. Need someone to look at it. It was installed in May of 2007 with a 2 year warranty.
