Understanding Cycloaliphatic Epoxy Coatings!
Introduction:
In the 50 or so years that epoxies have been in existence, one of the technological advances was the introduction of cycloaliphatic curing agents ten or twenty years ago. For many years it was the 'secret weapon' of epoxy formulators. The addition of cycloaliphatic curatives in the Part B (hardener or curing agent) of epoxy resin systems greatly improves the epoxy. Usually the Part B is a blend of curing agents selected due to properties and/or price. Generally, cycloaliphatic curing agents (and their are several) are more expensive than the regular/standard curing agents.

Cycloaliphatics are known for their:
- Improved 'weatherability'
- Water/moisture tolerance
- Resistance to blushing and water spotting
- Better chemical resistance.
The ring structure (the 'cyclo' part) also provides (in many cases) a bit more structural 'stretch' than the traditional straight chain curing agent. This provides for better 'impact' resistance (note: 'hard' epoxies, on the other hand, offer better abrasion resistance).

Our epoxy garage coating is the most durable and longest lasting 100% solids Cycloaliphatic epoxy coating on the market today. Epoxy-Coat® is a 100% solids Cycloaliphatic epoxy, making it ideal for garage coating, basement, and patios, industrial or commercial concrete or wood floors. 100% solids epoxy is a term used to describe the volume solids in a coating system. It's what is left over after the epoxy coating dries. 100% solids will yield 100% dried material after the coating fully dries. 50% volume solids will yield 50% of the thickness after the coating fully dries. Most epoxies are 30% - 40% volume solids. If you wish to compare the thickness after dried application between Epoxy-Coat® and normal epoxies you would need 2.5x the gallons to equal exactly the thickness of 1 gallon of Epoxy-Coat® Coating.

Note: Epoxy coatings (especially clear epoxy) when exposed to Ultraviolet light can amber as a result of UV exposure with the amount of ambering subjective to exposure. Please consider using our UV additive that will reduce ambering for a couple of years.
Performance Polyurea is recommended where very high UV resistant is desired with exceptional mar resistance. This is the only product we recommend as a top coat for exterior surfaces exposed to UV. Contact us today for details!

My wife and I own a boarding kennel and raise our own Labrador retrievers. We built our first kennel about seven years ago. We thought out every
detail from stall drains in a gutter sloped to one end of the building to having the right slope for each kennel stall. I came up with the idea for each stall to have a ten foot run outside. The door opening was designed with rollers on the sides that lift up and latch securely so in the summer the dogs can come and go as they please. Well, we thought we had everything covered. Never imagined that over this seven year period we had to paint and paint until we were sick of it. All in all we put at least ten - twelve coats of coating on our kennel floor. We both started looking for another type of covering for our floor. We found the product called epoxy coat. What a savior this was. We stripped off the old floor coating and followed the easy to use instructions and now we have a floor durable enough to be hosed daily and sanitized daily without worry. The look is so attractive and the folks at epoxy coat were very helpful. We would recommend this product to anyone with a kennel like us that our at wits end trying to figure out what to put on your floor. This product is it, as you need not look any further.
